Philosophy

Julie Tengdahl began her design career at age 16, at a time when fashion design was not considered an industry in Brisbane. After studying design, she worked for a local bridal couture house, where she developed a love of classic design and fascinating embellishments.

After designing for the Principles label, which she co-owned for seven years, Julie launched Tengdahl in 1997. The label’s founding philosophy was based on the belief that a garment’s true beauty lies in simplicity of form and function.

Tengdahl’s close relationship with its clients enables the label to respond to the evolving needs of high fashion, while holding true to its founding principles of quality, glamour and wearability.

Hand made in Australia, Tengdahl’s casually sophisticated designs have earned over 12 awards for excellence in manufacture and design and a position alongside Australia’s most successful fashion designers. Sourcing the best each season has to offer, Tengdahl also stocks a wonderful array of international and local labels, including Paula Hall, Nanni, Paige Jeans, True Religion Jeans, Rock and Republic, Lyrics, Nolita, Freesoul, Odd Molly, Kristensen, Du Nord.
